HELLO, BURLOTTO MAKES OTHER WINES TOO...
Over the last two years, G.B. Burlotto's Monvigliero cru Barolo bottling has climbed on the secondary market to astronomical prices. This morning I chuckled at a post I found on WineBerserkers from 2016. One particularly frustrated collector lamented, "The 2012 pricing for Monvigliero is now $80, another one of my favorite value Barolo bites the dust." Currently as it sits, the best US price for Fabio Burlotto's Monvigliero is $549 online. Certainly now it is true, another affordable Barolo has in fact disappeared from the realm of availability and affordability.

While I do believe Burlotto's Monvigliero breathes rarified air (it is the most elegant, sexy and Burgundian Nebbiolo I have encountered in my career), the fact remains that Fabio makes truly charming and thoughtful wines with great purity of form. Today we offer his Aves Barbera d'Alba and the Langhe Nebbiolo. From the very same vineyards he uses to craft his magically textured Baroli, he produces his Langhe Nebbiolo. It undergoes shorter ferments than Fabio's typical extremely long 70 day ferments and it sees shorter wood aging. The Barbera is also one of the benchmarks for the style, traditionally made with a mix of oak botti and acacia wood, it's one of my favorite pasta wines. - BK

Galloni delivers his thoughts on the Nebbiolo "...it is laced with crushed raspberry, mint, kirsch, orange peel and spice. Effusive and inviting, the 2020 Langhe Nebbiolo is a real gem. In 2020, Burlotto did not bottle their higher-end "Acclivi" Barolo bottling, so the best blocks from that were added to this blend."

Houston Orders

After checking out, you will receive a pickup confirmation email when the order has been pulled and packed. You can pickup your wine at our shop at 2301 Portsmouth Street in Upper Kirby, Houston.

San Antonio Orders

Any wine that is ordered with a selection to pickup in San Antonio will be available for pickup in San Antonio in 2-3 business days unless otherwise stated.
